Cave City Coach Arrested After Threatening Ex-Wife, Leading to Office Shutdown

BATESVILLE, Ark. – A Cave City coach was taken into custody on March 27 following threats he allegedly made to kill his ex-wife, which prompted a shutdown at the Batesville medical office where she worked.

Dillon Ray Sallas, 31, was arrested on charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, after a probable cause hearing on Thursday morning.

According to court documents, Sallas’s ex-wife contacted the Batesville Police Department at 9:31 a.m. to report that he had threatened to shoot her. She also informed authorities that Sallas had sent a text message saying, “You’ll see me later today. You got exactly what you got coming.”

The affidavit, written by Detective Brenda Bittle, further revealed that Sallas’s mother called the victim, advising her to lock her doors and stay inside because Sallas had stated he was going to kill her. Sallas’s mother also reportedly received a message from him stating, “I’m gonna kill [the victim].” Shortly afterward, Sallas left a voicemail saying, “There’s consequences to your actions too, [expletive]. See you later.”

Following these threatening communications, hospital security was alerted to the victim’s workplace on Hospital Circle, and the office was closed after the last patient left for the day.

The victim, who filed for divorce on June 3, 2024, was in the process of securing an order of protection against Sallas.

Sallas was arrested and booked into the Independence County Jail at 2:32 p.m. on March 27, but he was released on a $2,500 bond just 20 minutes later. The judge imposed a no-contact order, prohibiting Sallas from communicating with the victim.

According to public records, Sallas is employed as an eighth-grade social studies teacher and football coach at Cave City Middle School.
