Independence Co, AR – On July 11, a warrant was issued for Christopher Robert Meyer, 39, who is being charged with rape, a Class Y felony. According to the incident report, the assault occurred on July 2 at 450 Lilly Street in a room where three children were present.
The affidavit states that the children’s mother left the children with the victim and Meyer while she went to run errands. Meyer told the children to get on the floor and take a nap, but some remained awake and witnessed the assault. Meyer allegedly pushed the victim onto a couch and threw her phone across the room. One of the children even asked the victim if she was okay during the assault.
When a search warrant was executed at the residence, police discovered a female dog tied up in the yard with a very short cord and two puppies running loose. The only water available for the animals was raw sewage running on the ground, and it appeared they had gone without food and water for some time, as their rib cages were visible through their skin.
In addition to the rape charge, Meyer faces three misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and three misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals. His bond was set at $900,000.
