BATESVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has launched a homicide investigation after two women were found dead inside a residence in rural Independence County earlier this week.
On Tuesday, April 15, deputies with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at a home in the 1600 block of Old Camp Road. Upon entering the residence, deputies discovered the bodies of Teresa Owens Nelson, 53, and Patricia Anderson, 71.
Following the discovery, the Independence County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from state authorities. The Arkansas State Police CID is now leading the investigation.
Both victims were transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the official cause and manner of death.
Authorities confirmed Friday that the deaths are being investigated as a double homicide. No further details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
Officials have not said whether any suspects are in custody or being sought at this time.
Residents in the area are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
