MOUNTAIN VIEW, Ark. — A 24-year-old man is behind bars in Stone County, charged with felony rape after an investigation revealed he allegedly had sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl who is now pregnant. Shane Alan Gilbert was taken into custody and faces one Class Y felony count of rape, with his bond set at $100,000, according to court documents.
The case came to light when the girl’s father contacted Stone County dispatch on March 11, requesting a deputy to document his concerns about his daughter’s pregnancy.
On March 15, the young girl was interviewed at the Stone County Sheriff’s Office. When authorities reached out to Gilbert for a statement, he refused to voluntarily visit the sheriff’s office to speak with investigators.
