BATESVILLE, Ark. — A Southside School District student is facing two misdemeanor counts of cyber-bullying following a series of “very inappropriate” social media posts about the Batesville High School football team and its coach, according to a report by K8 News.
Megan Renihan, communications coordinator for the Batesville School District, confirmed that charges were filed by the prosecuting attorney’s office on Tuesday. The charges come after Batesville Superintendent Ken James discovered the offensive posts on Sept. 17 and immediately contacted Southside Superintendent Dion Stevens.
James also reached out to local law enforcement and the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office to assist in the investigation.
The nature of the posts has not been fully disclosed, but they reportedly contained derogatory remarks aimed at the Batesville football team and coaching staff.
When approached by K8 News, Southside Superintendent Dion Stevens declined to comment on any potential disciplinary actions that the student may face at school.
This incident highlights the growing concern over cyber-bullying, particularly in school settings, where such behavior can escalate tensions between students from different districts.
