Two men face methamphetamine distribution charges following a collaborative investigation by the 16th District Drug Task Force, Stone County Sheriff’s Office, and Mountain View Police Department.
Charles W. Coles
Charles W. Coles, 31, of Conway, was arrested on January 9 and charged in Stone County Circuit Court with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with the intent to deliver. The charge involves more than 10 grams but less than 200 grams of methamphetamine.
Authorities began monitoring Coles in December 2024 after a confidential informant identified him as a regular supplier of large quantities of methamphetamine to Stone County.
On the day of his arrest, Coles was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Mountain View police. Investigators reported that a Ziploc bag containing a white crystalline substance was thrown from the passenger-side window during the stop. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine, with a weight exceeding 10 grams.
Coles is being held at the Stone County Detention Center with a bond set at $25,000.
Scott Eugene McGuire
In a separate case, Scott Eugene McGuire, 37, of Mountain View, was arrested on January 9 during a traffic stop for driving left of center. A consented search of McGuire’s vehicle revealed a bag hidden in the engine compartment containing 69 grams of methamphetamine divided into smaller baggies, along with hypodermic needles.
Some of the needles contained a clear liquid that tested positive for methamphetamine.
McGuire faces charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and is being charged as a habitual offender.
He is being held on a $35,000 bond.
Both arrests highlight ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat drug distribution in the region.
