FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fayetteville police are searching for a man who allegedly used the threat of an explosive to rob Centennial Bank on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard Wednesday morning.
The robbery occurred around 11:30 a.m., when the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and displayed an object he claimed was an explosive device, according to Sgt. Stephen Mauk of the Fayetteville Police Department. The man demanded cash, which the teller handed over. Authorities have not disclosed the amount taken during the robbery.
After obtaining the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot, heading east.
Suspect Description
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, and weighing between 220 and 230 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie, khaki pants, a mask, and gloves.
Recent Bank Robberies in Fayetteville
This marks the second bank robbery in Fayetteville in 2024. The first occurred in June at the United Bank on Joyce Boulevard, where a man similarly claimed to have a bomb.
The Fayetteville Police Department is urging anyone with information about Wednesday’s robbery or the suspect to come forward. Tips can be reported to the police department or through anonymous crime tip lines.
