Southside has announced that contracts have been signed to begin construction on additions to the Southside Junior High School and Southside High School. The project is the result of the millage passed in 2021.
According to the district’s release, highlights of the project will include:
- Modern, spacious classrooms equipped “…with cutting-edge technology, fostering innovation and collaborative learning.”
Science and technology labs dedicated to scientific experiments and hands-on exploration. - Multi-purpose spaces for extracurricular activities, club meetings, and community events.
- A Fine Arts Suite designed to be “…a hub for collaboration…where creativity knows no bounds and where dreams are transformed into masterpieces.”
- An upgrade for athletic facilities, providing students with “…top-notch spaces for physical education and sports.”
The project’s construction cost is estimated to be around $39 million, however, the district applied for and received nearly $23 million of partnership funding from the state of Arkansas.
