Little Rock, Ark. – The Arkansas State Police is mourning the loss of retired K9 Beau, a dedicated German Shepherd who served seven years with the Interstate Criminal Patrol Team. Beau passed away on Thursday at the age of 12.
Throughout his career, Beau worked alongside his handler, Sgt. Josh Elmore of Troop H, until retiring in April 2024. His keen instincts played a crucial role in disrupting drug trafficking operations along Arkansas roadways, enhancing safety for communities statewide.
Beau’s efforts led to the seizure of more than 2,600 pounds of marijuana, 24 pounds of cocaine, 55 pounds of methamphetamine, and over $1.3 million in suspected drug money.
In announcing his passing, the Arkansas State Police highlighted Beau’s enduring contributions to public safety. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering loyalty and exceptional service that strengthened the force and protected Arkansas residents.
