“Quick Response Contained Fire at Midland School; No Injuries Reported

Midland School officials report that a fire alarm at Midland School sounded around 8:10 a.m.early Thursday morning prompting a swift response from local emergency services. The fire originated at the FACS/Art building. Midland staff, along with School Resource Officer Jason Cole, promptly evacuated the building, ensuring the safety of all students and staff.

Independence County Judge Kevin Jeffery shared on Facebook that the Pleasant Plains and Floral Fire Departments responded quickly, extinguishing the flames and ventilating the building to remove smoke. The Batesville and Southside Fire Departments were also dispatched but later received a cancellation code.

No injuries were reported, and the situation was declared all-clear by 9:38 a.m.  the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue.
