BATESVILLE, Ark. — A man was shot Sunday afternoon at a residence on Lindsey Circle in Batesville, and a person of interest has been taken into custody following a swift response by the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said.
Deputies were dispatched to the home around 1:27 p.m. March 1 after receiving a report of a male subject who had been shot. Upon arrival, they found the victim receiving treatment from an off-duty officer who was at the scene. The injured man was transported to a local hospital for additional medical care. His condition and identity have not been released.
Investigators quickly identified a person of interest, located the individual and took them into custody without incident. Officials have classified the shooting as an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community.
The Independence County Sheriff’s Office described the case as active and ongoing. No further details, including the circumstances of the shooting or charges against the suspect, will be released at this time pending the investigation.
