Batesville and the surrounding region will be represented on a national stage this coming summer as several Arkansas strongman athletes prepare for the United States Strongman (USS) Nationals, scheduled for June 7, 2025, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
This year’s competitors from Arkansas include Jarryd Dempsey (Men’s Middleweight), Cody Stevens (Men’s Heavyweight), Scotty Limbaugh (Men’s Heavyweight), Ronald Creech (Men’s Heavyweight), and Camden Nutt (Teen Men’s Heavyweight) of Batesville. These athletes have dedicated countless hours to training, recovery, and community involvement as they work toward competing against some of the strongest men in the country.
Strongman competitions test overall strength, endurance, and resilience through events such as deadlifts, log presses, carries, and static holds. The sport has grown steadily in Arkansas, building a supportive community of lifters and spectators who share a commitment to hard work and self-improvement.
Having multiple Arkansans — including one from Batesville — competing at the national level is a proud moment for the state’s strength community. Their participation highlights how much the sport has developed locally and how dedication and discipline can turn small-town effort into national recognition.
It’s inspiring to see local athletes not only striving for personal goals but also carrying the pride of Arkansas and Batesville with them to a national stage.
