Hardy Man Charged with Terroristic Threatening, Aggravated Assault in Property Dispute

Hardy, Ark. — A 51-year-old Hardy man faces multiple felony charges following two incidents involving property disputes with neighbors, according to court documents filed in Sharp County Circuit Court. Daniel Lewis Collins was arrested on September 16, 2025, and charged with three counts of terroristic threatening and three counts of aggravated assault, all Class D felonies, as detailed in an affidavit by Lt. Bryce Trivitt of the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).

The charges stem from two separate confrontations on Firetower Road in Hardy. On September 6, 2025, Collins allegedly confronted property owners and a family member who were clearing a fence line. According to the affidavit, Collins claimed ownership of the disputed property, leading to a heated argument. During the altercation, Collins returned to his vehicle, placed a firearm on his hip, and made eye contact with one of the property owners in a manner described as intimidating by those present.

The second incident occurred on September 15, 2025, at a shop on Firetower Road, where Collins allegedly made death threats against the same neighbors, according to witness statements provided to the SCSO. Specific details of the threats were not disclosed in the affidavit.

Collins was taken into custody on September 16, 2025, without incident. He remains in the Sharp County Jail on a $100,000 bond, per jail booking records.

Under Arkansas law, terroristic threatening in the first degree (Ark. Code Ann. § 5-13-301) and aggravated assault (Ark. Code Ann. § 5-13-204) are Class D felonies, each carrying a potential penalty of up to 6 years in prison and fines up to $10,000 upon conviction. The three counts of each charge reflect the involvement of multiple individuals in the incidents.

The SCSO continues to investigate the incidents, and no additional charges or suspects have been reported as of September 18, 2025. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office at (870) 994-7356. Anonymous tips can be submitted through the SCSO’s tip line.
