Body of Missing Man Found in Randolph County Following Extensive Search

POCAHONTAS, Ark. – The search for Anthony Scott, a missing man in Randolph County, came to a tragic conclusion after authorities located his body in a remote area.

Randolph County Sheriff Kevin Bell reported that the case began on Dec. 4, when Scott called 911 at 11:35 p.m., claiming he heard a man and woman arguing in his backyard at a downtown Pocahontas address. When deputies arrived, they were unable to locate Scott or anything unusual.

Several hours later, at 5:07 a.m., Scott called 911 again. This time, his phone was traced to the Newberry Road and Winter Road area. He told dispatchers he needed help and claimed he was “trapped by the Sheriff’s Office.” Scott also mentioned heading to a friend’s house but said he ended up at a creek. Shortly after, contact with Scott was lost.

After days of searching, deputies discovered Scott’s body on Dec. 12, approximately one mile from the area where his phone was last pinged. Sheriff Bell noted that the body was found in a remote location overgrown with tall grass and underbrush.

Authorities believe that the below-freezing temperatures during the search likely contributed to Scott’s death. His body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for further examination.

The case remains under investigation as officials work to determine the full circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death.
