NEWTON COUNTY, Ark. — The search for Clyde Holmes, a 41-year-old man from Little Rock, has intensified following the discovery of his abandoned truck in Newton County. The truck was found on July 11 along Highway 74 between Jasper and Piercetown by a Newton County deputy.
Holmes was last seen leaving his home in Little Rock on July 10. The deputy who discovered the vehicle at approximately 5:00 a.m. found it locked and pulled over to the side of the road. Despite searching the surrounding area and questioning locals, no information regarding Holmes’ whereabouts was obtained. The truck was towed and entered into the nationwide law enforcement computer network as impounded.
On July 19, Little Rock Police contacted Newton County deputies about the truck. Upon securing a search warrant, deputies searched the vehicle but found no additional clues. Authorities noted that Holmes has no known connections to Newton County.
The Little Rock Police Department, in collaboration with Newton County authorities, has been actively searching for Holmes. They have deployed K-9 teams and conducted ground searches in the area. These efforts are expected to continue through Monday.
Sheriff Wheeler expressed concern for Holmes’ well-being, stating, “I have met with Clyde’s family and they are rightfully worried about him. Our prayers go out to him and to his family. We don’t have a lot of information to go on at this point, but are hopeful that, as the investigation and search continues, we will have more information to work with.”
Holmes is described as a 5’10” black male with dreadlocks. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Newton County Sheriff’s Office at 870-446-5124 or Detective A.J. Boyd with the Little Rock Police Department at 501-404-3016.
