A Batesville, Arkansas man is facing multiple drug-related charges after authorities discovered $1 million worth of methamphetamine in his home.
The 16th Judicial Drug Task Force announced on Wednesday that, following a six-month-long multi-agency investigation, an arrest was made for the suspected trafficking of methamphetamine.
The investigation began in January 2024 when members of the Drug Task Force, in collaboration with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, targeted Jose Gonzales for his suspected involvement in methamphetamine trafficking throughout the county.
Over the course of several months, agents conducted undercover controlled drug purchases from Gonzales, according to a press release.
On Tuesday, a search warrant was executed on Gonzales’ home by the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Task Force, and the Batesville Police Department. The search resulted in the discovery of 23.6 pounds of methamphetamine and three pounds of marijuana.
Reports estimate the street value of the seized illegal drugs to be over $1 million.
