Spotlight: David B. Jones Campaigns for Justice of the Peace, District 5 in Independence County

BATESVILLE, Ark. — David B. Jones, a U.S. Air Force veteran and 23-year retiree from the Arkansas State Police, has announced his candidacy for Justice of the Peace in District 5 in the March 3, 2026, Republican primary.

Jones, who retired as a Sergeant with Troop B of the Arkansas State Police, served a total of 23 years with the agency after completing eight years in the United States Air Force. Following retirement, he has continued public service as a School Resource Officer at Southside Elementary School, where he focuses on student safety, school security and building positive relationships with children and staff.

In his campaign announcement, Jones emphasized a career founded on service, integrity and doing what is right. He brings proven leadership, a strong commitment to honesty, decades of community-focused experience and a passion for protecting families and strengthening the local area.

Jones is a resident of District 5, which includes portions of southern and eastern Independence County, encompassing communities around Southside and nearby rural areas. As Justice of the Peace, he would represent District 5 on the Independence County Quorum Court, participating in decisions on county budgets, taxes, road improvements, ordinances, solid waste policies and other local governance matters.

A family man, Jones is married to Claudette Jones. Together they have four children and three grandchildren, and the family places a deep value on faith, family and service to the community.

His campaign slogan is “Leadership. Integrity. Service.” Jones humbly asks for voter support to continue his record of public service on the Quorum Court.

No dedicated campaign website is currently listed, but announcements and supporter messages have circulated through local community channels and social media.

Voters in District 5 will decide the Republican primary race on March 3, with early voting available through March 2. For sample ballots, polling locations or additional candidate information, contact the Independence County Election Commission or visit the Arkansas Secretary of State website at candidates.arkansas.gov.
