FAYETTEVILLE – Saturday, October 19, 2024, the LSU Tigers overwhelmed the Arkansas Razorbacks 34-10 in Fayetteville, continuing their dominance in the “Battle for the Golden Boot.” LSU has now won eight of the last 10 matchups in this rivalry, and it will be another year before Arkansas gets another chance to bring the trophy back to Fayetteville.
The game was competitive in the first half, with Arkansas only trailing 16-7 at halftime. Razorbacks quarterback Taylen Green found a solid rhythm early on, particularly with wide receiver Andrew Armstrong, who caught the team’s only touchdown and racked up seven receptions for 94 yards. However, Arkansas’s offense faltered after halftime, scoring just a field goal in the second half before LSU took control.
LSU’s true freshman running back, Caden Durham, was the star of the night, rushing for 101 yards and three touchdowns. The Tigers’ quarterback, Garrett Nussmeier, played an efficient game, completing 67% of his passes and sustaining key drives, especially on third down, where LSU converted 8 of 14 attempts.
Arkansas struggled mightily on the ground, managing just 38 rushing yards on 19 carries, and turnovers proved costly, as the Razorbacks gave the ball away three times. Meanwhile, LSU’s defense applied pressure, recording three sacks and keeping the Razorbacks’ offense in check.
After the close first half, LSU scored 18 unanswered points in the second half to pull away, securing a decisive win. Arkansas, now 4-3 on the season, will look to bounce back as they travel to Mississippi State for their next game at the end of October
