Cushman Miners Day:2025 Celebrating Heritage and History in Sharp County

Tomorrow, the City of Cushman invites everyone to its annual Miners Day—a lively, free community bash honoring the town’s storied mining heritage while packing in modern fun for all ages. From parades to playtime, this one-day spectacle at 45 Park St, Cushman, AR, is the perfect way to cap the week with Sharp County spirit. It’s happening Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (4 hours and 30 minutes of non-stop excitement), and it’s open to the public—bring your friends, family, and appetite!

Honoring Cushman’s Mining Legacy

Cushman, born from the Ozark Mining Company’s zinc and lead boom in the late 1800s, was once a thriving “Minersville” before renaming in 1906 after a railroad exec. This event keeps that gritty history alive with nods to the shafts, tunnels, and families who built the town. But Miners Day isn’t stuffy—it’s a high-energy tribute blending past pride with present-day joy, drawing folks from across Independence County for a taste of small-town celebration.

Organized by the City of Cushman, it’s all about community: “Parade, bounce houses, waterslides, craft vendors, food trucks, mechanical bull, live music, and more!” For vendor spots, DM the City of Cushman Facebook page—spots are filling fast!

A Packed Schedule of Highlights

This year’s festivities offer something for everyone, kicking off with a bang and winding down with dances under the stars (event runs daytime, but stick around for the afterparty vibe):

  • 10:30 a.m. Parade: Classic floats, horses, and vintage vehicles set the tone for a day of community celebration—wave from the sidelines or join the march!
  • Live Music: Local bands such as Generations and Spring Mill Revival bring tunes that’ll get your toes tapping all afternoon.
  • Food & Craft Vendors: From festival snacks to homemade sourdough bread and artisan crafts—shop local, taste local, and support Sharp County’s makers.
  • Kids’ Activities: Bounce houses, water slides, and more keep little ones entertained and splashing through the hours.
  • Adult Fun: Test your balance on a mechanical bull, score big with giveaways, or try your luck at the gun raffle—adults get their thrills too!
  • 7:00 p.m. Street Dance: As the day winds down, dance the evening away with a live set from The Groove Vault—extend the party into the night!

Admission is free, with plenty of parking at the community center grounds. It’s rain-or-shine ready, with indoor backups if needed. Past years have drawn hundreds, turning Park Street into a hub of laughter and connection—expect the same (or more) tomorrow.

Why Miners Day Matters in Cushman

In a town where mining powered progress through tough times, Miners Day isn’t just fun—it’s a reminder of resilience. It boosts local economy, fosters neighborly bonds, and spotlights Cushman’s charm amid the Ozarks’ rolling hills. As one attendee put it last year, “It’s the heartbeat of our community—history with a side of hayrides!”
