CONWAY, Ark. — Conway police have arrested two individuals on felony charges after an investigation uncovered that an 11-year-old child had been subjected to ongoing physical abuse inside the home.
Police were alerted on November 14 after the Arkansas Department of Human Services contacted Conway officers regarding concerns for the child’s safety. When investigators met with the child, they documented extensive bruising consistent with physical punishment.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the child had been forced to perform wall and air squats as a form of punishment, and was beaten with a belt when they were unable to continue. Officers say the pattern of injuries was consistent with repeated episodes of punishment.
The child was immediately removed from the home and placed into protective custody.
Both suspects were taken into custody and are now facing felony domestic battery charges involving a minor. Their names have not yet been released pending formal court proceedings.
The case remains under active investigation, and authorities say additional charges could be possible.
Police are urging anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Conway Police Department or to report concerns about child abuse through the state’s child-abuse hotline.
