CEDAR RIDGE, Ark. — Voters in the Cedar Ridge School District will decide March 3 whether to approve a measure allowing the district to restructure existing debt to fund construction of a new multi-purpose athletic facility, with no increase in taxes or the current millage rate.
The proposal would keep the millage rate at 38.2 mills — the lowest in the county and below the state average — and redirect approximately $2.935 million from existing debt obligations, potentially supplemented by available building fund resources, toward the project.
If approved, the new facility would serve as an addition to the existing gymnasium rather than a replacement. It is designed to accommodate a wide range of student and community activities, including:
- Off-season basketball and volleyball practice
- Indoor baseball and softball training
- Physical education classes
- Summer athletic programs
- Pee Wee football
- Dance and cheer activities
- Little Dribblers basketball
- High school football-related events
- Archery
- Elementary recess during inclement weather
District officials stress that the measure involves no new taxes or millage increase, only an extension and reallocation of current debt payments to support the construction.
