Sulphur Rock, AR – William D. Bewley, 54, found himself in custody following an extensive investigation led by the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force and the Independence County Sheriff’s Department. The arrest, made without incident, culminated in charges stemming from Bewley’s alleged criminal activities and outstanding warrants.
The sequence of events unfolded on June 21, when law enforcement officials filed an affidavit detailing Bewley’s activities. Allegedly evading the Arkansas Board of Parole for two years, Bewley was discovered residing in a camper near Gibbs Creek, just off North Vaughn Street in Sulphur Rock. Authorities also revealed an active warrant for his arrest from Ohio, citing failure to appear charges.
The charges against Bewley are significant and encompass a range of offenses. These include possession of methamphetamine (less than two grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia, both classified as Class D felonies. Additionally, he faces charges for simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms by a certain person, a Class Y felony, possession of a firearm by a certain person in the commission of another felony with a prior violent conviction, a Class B felony, possession of a defaced firearm, a Class D felony, and criminal use of a prohibited weapon, also a Class D felony.
Following his arrest, Bewley was processed and his bond set at $50,000, pending further legal proceedings.
