NEWPORT, Ark. — Four people were injured Monday evening when an ambulance transporting a patient to an emergency room was involved in a crash, officials said.
The wreck happened while the ambulance crew from the Tuckerman Fire Department & Volunteer Ambulance Service was en route to the hospital. Local emergency services — including Newport Fire EMS, Southern EMS, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Tuckerman Police Department — responded. City officials, including Newport Mayor Derrick Ratliffe, also assisted at the scene and at the hospital.
No names or conditions of the injured have been released as of yet.
What Happened
Officials said the crash occurred during a routine transfer of a patient in need of medical care. Details about the cause of the crash — whether due to road conditions, vehicle malfunction or other factors — were not immediately given.
Emergency crews transported all four injured parties to a local hospital for treatment.
