IZARD COUNTY, Ark. – A minor earthquake was detected Wednesday night near Batesville, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
The earthquake registered a magnitude of 2.1 and was centered along the Izard/Sharp County line, approximately 3.1 miles northwest of Sidney and 18.5 miles north of Batesville.
The quake occurred at a depth of 11 kilometers, roughly 6.8 miles underground. While the tremor was light, it serves as a reminder of the geological activity in the region. No reports of damage or injuries have been noted.
