Oil Trough Man Faces Felony Meth Charges After Undercover Buys

OIL TROUGH, Ark. – A 64-year-old Independence County resident was arrested Tuesday on two counts of delivering a Schedule II controlled substance after investigators say he sold crystal methamphetamine to an undercover informant on two separate occasions.

Robert Michael Rogers of Oil Trough faces Class B felony charges, each punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $15,000 fine. According to an affidavit from the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, a confidential informant, equipped with audio and video recording devices and monitored by agents, met Rogers at a prearranged location for the transactions.

The first buy occurred on an unspecified date, followed by a second, with the informant purchasing more than two grams of crystal meth each time. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine, and the evidence was secured for analysis at the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.

Rogers was taken into custody Nov. 4 and booked into the Independence County Jail, where he is being held on a $30,000 bond. Court records indicate he has no prior felony convictions listed.

The Drug Task Force continues to investigate narcotics distribution in the area, urging residents with information to contact the Independence County Sheriff’s Office at 870-793-8888 or the task force hotline. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
