Logan County Teen Sentenced to 30 Years for Killing Mother

BOONEVILLE, Ark. – A Logan County teenager has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2022 murder of his mother.

William Frost, now 18, entered a guilty plea to second-degree murder on Dec. 20 in Logan County Circuit Court.

Court documents reveal that on Aug. 7, 2022, Frost, then 16 years old, retrieved his mother’s .357 caliber handgun, waited in his bedroom, and fatally shot her.

Initially charged with first-degree murder, Frost pleaded not guilty to that charge. After more than two years of legal delays and continuances, he reached a plea agreement, avoiding a jury trial that had been rescheduled for April 2025.

Frost received a 30-year prison sentence, with credit for 867 days already served in custody.

The case has drawn attention for its prolonged timeline and the tragic nature of the crime.
