BATESVILLE, Ark. – Eagle Mountain Elementary School in Batesville will remain closed until Wednesday following a fire that broke out on campus early Monday morning.
According to the Batesville School District, smoke was detected coming from a classroom around 1:30 a.m., prompting an immediate response. The Batesville Fire Department quickly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze.
The fire was contained to a single classroom, but officials reported water damage in another classroom on the basement level. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
School district officials stated that they are working to resolve the damage, with the goal of resuming classes by Wednesday.
