BATESVILLE, Arkansas — The Lyon College Convocation Committee will host U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford for a presentation at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, in Nucor Auditorium in the Lyon Business and Economics Building, 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville.
The convocation is open to the public.
Crawford, a Republican representing Arkansas’s First District, was first elected to Congress in 2010 and is now serving his seventh term. In January 2025 he became chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence after eight years on the panel, including service as chair of the CIA Subcommittee.
A senior member of the House Agriculture Committee, Crawford helped pass the 2014 and 2018 farm bills and has led several subcommittees, emphasizing agriculture as a key to national security. He also serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, where he secured the I-555 interstate designation and has chaired key subcommittees.
Patrick Lynch, assistant professor of business, entrepreneurship and marketing, said the presentation offers students and the community an opportunity to hear directly from a national policymaker.
“Congressman Crawford brings a wealth of experience on issues that affect Arkansas and the nation,” Lynch said. “His insights on agriculture, infrastructure and intelligence will help our students connect what they’re learning in the classroom to the real-world policy decisions shaping their future.”
Crawford’s visit is part of Lyon College’s ongoing convocation series that connects students with leaders in education, government, business and industry, and public service, enhancing the college’s commitment to preparing students for civic engagement and professional success.
