MOUNTAIN VIEW, Ark. — A Fox, Arkansas, man faces a slew of charges after allegedly breaking into a home, confronting law enforcement, and engaging in physical altercations with deputies, according to the Stone County Sheriff’s Office. David M. Huff, 30, was arrested following a chaotic early-morning incident that unfolded at the Natural Lodge on Meadowcreek Road.
Deputies were dispatched at around 1:27 a.m. after a 911 call reported an intoxicated man, dressed in a hoodie and jeans, entering the residence. The caller stated that the man, who fled in a white vehicle, had tried to kiss her before leaving. She provided an address to dispatch that matched Huff’s nearby home, prompting deputies to converge on the area.
While two deputies interviewed the caller, another spotted a white Chevrolet truck matching the description and initiated a traffic stop. Due to a weak radio signal, dispatch was initially unaware of the stop. The driver, identified as Huff, allegedly admitted to drinking heavily, saying he’d had “plenty” of alcohol, and refused to provide identification, insisting he wouldn’t go to jail. Deputies noted open alcohol containers in the truck’s center console.
The situation escalated when Huff resisted arrest and refused to leave his vehicle. As a deputy attempted to cuff him, Huff allegedly fought back, citing past DWI offenses and vowing not to be taken into custody. A 20-minute struggle ensued on the ground, during which Huff reportedly scratched the deputy’s arms with his fingernails and kicked him. At one point, Huff admitted to entering the Meadowcreek Road home, though his account of how he gained entry varied.
Backup deputies and officers arrived, eventually subduing Huff and transporting him to the Stone County Detention Center. A vehicle search uncovered several unopened beer cans and one open container, and authorities noted that Huff’s license required an ignition interlock device—missing from the truck—due to prior restrictions.
At the detention center, Huff allegedly refused a breath test and wouldn’t sign a rights form. During a clothing change, he reportedly kicked a deputy in the face, prompting an unsuccessful taser attempt. Huff later requested medical attention and was taken to Stone County Medical Center before being returned to the detention center.
In circuit court, Huff was slapped with nine charges, including four felonies, with his bond set at $250,000. The incident has rattled the quiet community, as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the break-in and subsequent confrontation.
