Spotlight: County Judge Kevin B. Jeffery Seeks Re-Election in Independence County

BATESVILLE, Ark. — Incumbent Independence County Judge Kevin B. Jeffery, a Republican first elected in 2023, is seeking a second term in the March 3, 2026, Republican primary, facing challenger Mark W. Biram.

Jeffery serves as the chief executive officer of Independence County government, overseeing the disbursement of county funds, operation of the county road system, administration of quorum court ordinances, custody of county property, acceptance of grants, and presiding over quorum court meetings with veto power but no vote. His office handles county equipment, roads, solid waste and recycling billing, court orders and county budgets.

A Southside resident and sixth-generation Arkansan, Jeffery was elected in 2022 after announcing his candidacy in late 2021. He has been recognized for leadership in expanding broadband access, founding the Independence County Broadband Committee in early 2023 to position the county for federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment funding. His efforts have involved collaboration with the Arkansas State Broadband Office and local internet service providers to improve connectivity.

In May 2024, the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce named Jeffery a “Person of Impact” catalyst for igniting positive change through his broadband initiatives. He has also been featured in community spotlights, including a May 2024 interview with the Batesville Guard emphasizing commitment to making a difference in society.

Jeffery maintains an active presence through his official county role and a campaign-related Facebook page (Kevin Jeffery, Republican Candidate for Independence County Judge), where he has shared goals of setting high standards for county service. He announced his reelection bid in August 2025, expressing humility and honor in continuing to serve the county’s citizens.

His office is located at 192 East Main Street, Batesville, AR 72501, with contact at countyjudge@independencecounty.com or (870) 793-8800.
