SIDNEY, Ark. – A Sharp County resident is facing serious drug charges after a multi-agency investigation led to his arrest for trafficking fentanyl.
Billy R. Burge Jr., 43, of Sidney, was arrested Tuesday and charged with three felony counts of fentanyl trafficking, according to court documents filed by the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force in collaboration with the Independence and Sharp County Sheriff’s Offices.
The investigation involved controlled purchases of fentanyl made by a confidential informant during three separate operations in Independence County, as outlined in an affidavit.
In addition to the trafficking charges, Burge is also being prosecuted as a habitual offender. He is currently being held in the Independence County Jail with bond set at $200,000. His first court appearance is scheduled for June 10, 2025.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding the scope of the investigation or whether further arrests are expected.
