SAGE, Ark. — A 42-year-old Sage man faces multiple felony charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted and groomed children over several years in Izard County and other parts of Arkansas.
Brandon Lara was booked into the Izard County Detention Center on June 11 on three counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of sexual indecency with a child and one count of sexually grooming a child, according to jail records. He remains held on a $250,000 bond.
The investigation began in April after two individuals, now adults, reported being sexually abused by Lara when they were minors, court documents show. The alleged incidents spanned multiple years and occurred in Izard County and other Arkansas counties.
One alleged victim reported multiple incidents of sexual assault, while the other described being exposed to pornography and forced to perform sexual acts, according to court records.
Arkansas State Police Special Agent Tyler Webb conducted a post-Miranda interview with Lara, during which Lara allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting one of the victims on multiple occasions. Lara described himself as a “hypersexual person” and attributed his actions to a self-described “lust demon,” along with substance abuse and mental health issues, the affidavit states.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Lara’s residence on June 11 and recovered pornographic materials and digital media, court records indicate.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations. Lara is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
