CAVE CITY, Ark. – The 45th Annual Cave City Watermelon Festival proved once again that a
small town with a big heart can make a lasting impact. This year’s festival raised more than
$20,000 through the auction of prize melons donated by local watermelon farmers. The funds
will directly support the Cave City Assembly of God Church Food Pantry, the Cave City
School Backpack Program, and Ag for Autism.
The Cave City Assembly of God Food Pantry plays a vital role in meeting the food needs of
families struggling with food insecurity. Serving individuals and households throughout the
community, the pantry provides essential groceries and supplies to help neighbors make ends
meet during difficult times. For many, it is a lifeline that ensures families do not have to choose
between paying bills and putting food on the table.
The Cave City School Backpack Program provides weekly food assistance to more than 100
students and their families, ensuring that children have reliable meals beyond the school day.
This vital program helps fight food insecurity and supports students’ well-being both in and out
of the classroom.
Ag for Autism is a statewide initiative that raises funds to support autism awareness, services,
and education, particularly in rural areas. By partnering with schools, families, and
organizations, Ag for Autism helps ensure that children and young adults with autism have
access to the resources they need to thrive.
The annual prize melon auction has become a cornerstone of the festival, drawing generous
bids from community members and businesses alike. Their support ensures that vital local
programs can continue to meet the needs of families, students, and individuals across the
region.
Festival Committee Chair Amy Finster shared, “The outpouring of support from our neighbors
and local businesses makes me so proud to be part of this community. It’s moments like this
that remind the festival committee and me that the time we all invest in the festival truly makes
an impact.”

The Cave City Watermelon Festival Committee, whose dedication makes the event possible,
includes Brian and Tara Barnett, Robert Brockway, Bobby and Amy Finster, Ashtin Johnson,
Cody Mize, Cody Parsley, Tyler Parsley, Andrea Smith, Rustin, and Dalaney Woolridge.
The Cave City Watermelon Festival continues to celebrate the town’s agricultural heritage while
also serving as a platform for giving back. With record-breaking attendance and overwhelming
generosity, the 2025 festival further cemented its role as a tradition that strengthens the entire
community. The committee is already preparing for the 46th Annual Cave City Watermelon Festival, scheduled for July 23–25, 2026, and looks forward to welcoming everyone back next
summer.
