Independence County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public’s Help in Locating Missing Batesville Woman

Authorities in Independence County are urgently seeking the public’s assistance in locating Jonnah Moffitt, a Batesville woman reported missing since earlier this week. The Independence County Sheriff’s Office shared a family plea on Facebook Tuesday, September 30, 2025, highlighting that Moffitt has not been seen for over 48 hours and may be in need of help.

Moffitt, described as approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with long brown hair and an average build, was last seen walking on Kyler Road in Batesville. She was wearing blue overalls, a hat, and carrying a black bag. Family members, including her daughter Callie Moffitt, believe she is on foot and initially in the Batesville or Desha areas, but she may now be heading toward Searcy.

Callie Moffitt posted on social media, expressing concern for her mother’s safety: “My mother has been missing for 48 hours and is on foot. If anyone has seen her around Batesville/Desha area, please contact us immediately.”

The sheriff’s office echoed the call, urging anyone with information to come forward. Jonnah Moffitt’s disappearance has raised alarms in the community, with no foul play suspected but her vulnerability prompting a swift response.

Anyone who may have seen Moffitt or has information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Independence County Sheriff’s Office at 870-376-9712 or Callie Moffitt directly at 870-805-1336. Tips can also be submitted anonymously.

This case underscores the importance of community vigilance in rural Arkansas, where missing persons alerts often rely on local eyes and ears. As the search continues, Independence County officials are coordinating with neighboring agencies, including in White County near Searcy.
