Former Bryant HS Football Prospect Among Three Teens Charged in Conway Murder

CONWAY, Ark. – Three teenagers face capital murder charges in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy at an apartment complex last weekend, with one suspect identified as a former Bryant High School football standout who drew Division I recruiting interest.

Conway Police arrested Dallas Ham, 18; Jakel Jackson, 16; and Hayden Sublette, 17, following the incident on Saturday night, Oct. 18. The victim, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, was shot while sitting in a friend’s car at Bear Haven Apartments on West Martin Street. The friend drove the wounded teen to a Simmons Bank parking lot on Salem Road, where emergency responders arrived after a 911 call and pronounced him dead at the scene.

In addition to capital murder, Jackson and Sublette face aggravated robbery charges. A fourth juvenile, a 16-year-old boy, has been charged with tampering with physical evidence in connection with the case.

Sublette, a 2025 Bryant graduate, was a highly touted football prospect during his sophomore year, earning scholarship offers from the University of Arkansas and the University of Tulsa. He transferred to Maumelle High School for his junior season before returning to Bryant.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains active. The suspects are being held in the Faulkner County jail without bond. Further details will be released as they become available.
