Boozman Releases Discussion Draft of 2026 Farm Bill

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Boozman, R-Ark., chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, on Wednesday released legislative text for a proposal he is calling Farm Bill 2.0.

The discussion draft, formally known as the Agricultural Act of 2026, aims to equip farmers, ranchers, foresters and rural communities with additional tools and resources to bolster the agricultural economy.

Boozman described the measure as building on changes to farm programs included in the Working Families Tax Cuts. The proposal incorporates bipartisan priorities focused on greater investments in rural America and a more resilient agricultural sector.

“We can all agree that we must take steps to help America’s farm families, and one of the most important ways we demonstrate that commitment is by passing a bipartisan farm bill,” Boozman said in a statement.

The Arkansas senator said the draft incorporates feedback from Republicans, Democrats and stakeholders across rural America. He emphasized continued expansion of recent farm program improvements to strengthen the farm economy, boost rural investments and enhance resilience.

“Congress delivered historic improvements to farm programs through the Working Families Tax Cuts, and we’re continuing to expand upon that success with bipartisan priorities,” Boozman said.

The senator added that the legislation is crafted for those who produce America’s food and that he anticipates further discussions with colleagues as Congress works toward a long-term farm bill.

The proposal is expected to undergo review by lawmakers and agricultural organizations in the coming weeks.
