No. 20 Arkansas Razorbacks Fall 111-77 to No. 7 Florida in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Arkansas Razorbacks suffered a 34-point defeat on the road Saturday night, falling 111-77 to the seventh-ranked Florida Gators at Exactech Arena in the O’Connell Center.

Florida (23-6 overall, 14-2 SEC) dominated the contest, pulling away midway through the first half with a strong run that built a 19-point halftime lead of 53-34. The Gators extended the margin to more than 30 points in the second half, clinching at least a share of the Southeastern Conference regular-season title—their first in 12 years—and securing the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament.

Arkansas (21-8, 11-5 SEC), ranked No. 20 entering the game, struggled defensively and on the boards, as Florida outrebounded the Hogs 51-31 and outscored them 56-44 in the paint. The Razorbacks shot poorly throughout and were unable to contain Florida’s transition game, which produced numerous open looks and easy baskets.

Standout performances for Florida included Thomas Haugh with 22 points and Ruben Chinyelu contributing 12 points and 16 rebounds for his 17th double-double of the season. Multiple Gators reached double figures, marking the second time in program history seven players did so in a game.

For Arkansas, Billy Richmond scored 22 points and Darius Acuff Jr. added 17. The loss ties the worst defeat in head coach John Calipari’s career.

The Razorbacks, who had won five of their previous six games, return home for their final regular-season contest against Texas on Wednesday, March 4, at 6 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

This marks a tough SEC road test for Arkansas late in the conference slate, with Florida riding a nine-game winning streak into the matchup. The Gators celebrated by cutting down the nets following the victory.
