CHEROKEE VILLAGE, ARK. – Multiple boats at Thunderbird Marina were vandalized on the night of Thursday, June 6.
Approximately seven to eight boats at the dock suffered damage, including slashed seats, holes in their top covers, and one boat that was sprayed with its own fire extinguisher.
Jason Fisher, the owner of the marina, was informed of the incident early Friday morning by one of his employees.
“Three of my rental boats were slashed. The tops of the seats were damaged, with two portside, one starboard side, and some with slashes all the way down one side, and others with one to two-foot slashes,” Fisher explained.
In addition to the three rental boats, four privately owned boats and a lakeside patrol boat were also vandalized. The vandals attempted to break into the office but were unsuccessful. Fisher expressed confidence that he and the Cherokee Police Department will apprehend the perpetrators.
“Hopefully, our police department and investigators will catch these, what I call, punks. I know sooner or later, it’s going to come up, and we are going to catch them,” Fisher said.
Currently, no suspects have been named. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Cherokee Village Police Department at (870)-275-5225.
