MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — A Mountain Home couple faces multiple charges after authorities discovered a teenager allegedly held in confinement under abusive conditions. Jaclyn Barnett, the teen’s mother, and her husband, Daniel Wright, have been charged with 112 counts of false imprisonment, as well as endangering the welfare of a child and permitting abuse of a minor.
The investigation began when neighbors reported hearing cries for help coming from Barnett and Wright’s apartment. When police arrived on Saturday, a ten-year-old and an 11-year-old answered the door. Inside, officers found a 15-year-old confined to a bathroom, naked and reportedly sleeping on a makeshift pallet. According to investigators, the teen said he was only permitted to leave the bathroom to attend school.
Barnett remains in custody, while Wright has been released on bond. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse.
