BATESVILLE, Ark. — Fire officials are investigating a fire at Gilly’s Truck & Equipment Sales, located at 150 White Drive, which they believe may have been caused by a lightning strike.
On Tuesday night, multiple firefighting units responded to reports of a blaze at the business. Engine 3 arrived first on the scene, confirming the presence of a fire and promptly relaying details to other responding units, according to a statement released by the Batesville Fire Department on Friday.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the area where it originated, preventing it from spreading further. Preliminary observations suggest that a lightning strike may have hit a flagpole situated at the corner of the building, potentially sparking the fire.
The Batesville Fire Department expressed their gratitude to the Southside Fire Department, Vital Link EMS, and the Independence County Office of Emergency Management for their valuable assistance in handling the situation.
