JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman has been arrested on charges of aggravated assault after allegedly shooting at her boyfriend.
On September 11, Craighead County Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey found probable cause to charge 34-year-old Mia Nomora Colley with aggravated assault on a family or household member.
The incident unfolded on September 10, when Jonesboro police responded to a shots-fired call on the 500 block of Melrose Street. Upon arrival, the victim reported that Colley had forcibly entered his home and fired a gun. According to the affidavit, after Colley broke through the door, the victim attempted to retreat inside his home.
The victim explained to police that he and Colley had been arguing earlier, prompting him to leave their residence and stay at a friend’s house on Melrose Street. Colley reportedly followed him, banging on the windows before leaving. She returned later, broke down the door, and began shooting at him, the affidavit stated.
A witness corroborated the victim’s account, describing how Colley arrived in a silver Chevy Malibu, forcibly entered the apartment, then walked back to her vehicle and began shooting. The witness reported hearing several additional shots after running inside.
Police found shell casings at the scene and located Colley’s vehicle on Bridge Street. Although Colley initially fled on foot, she was later apprehended by authorities. During the arrest, officers discovered a box of bullets and a controlled substance under the driver’s seat of Colley’s vehicle, which also emitted a strong odor of marijuana. However, the pistol involved in the shooting was not recovered.
Colley told police she had discarded the pistol on Belt Street and denied firing it. Her version of the events did not align with the victim’s or the witness’s accounts.
Colley is currently held at the Craighead County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash/surety bond. Judge Halsey has also mandated that Colley wear an ankle monitor if released. Her arraignment is scheduled for October 28.
