Independence County Deputy Graduates from Police Training Academy

POCAHONTAS, Ark. – Coty Lee Britt of the Independence County Sheriff’s Office was among 37 officers who graduated from the Basic Police Training Course at the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Law Enforcement Training Academy on Thursday, November 14.

The ceremony, held at the Randolph County Development Center, featured Colonel Mike Hagar, Secretary of Public Safety and Director of Arkansas State Police, as the guest speaker.

The intensive 13-week program covered a range of essential law enforcement skills, including standard police tactics, firearms training, legal education, technical skills, and practical exercises. To graduate, participants were required to maintain a minimum academic score of 70% and achieve at least 80% accuracy in firearms training.

Britt, a dedicated deputy, is married to Beverly Britt and is the proud father of Ezekiel, Eden, and Bentley Pankey.
