Boaters Cautioned: Storm Debris Lurking Beneath Beaver Lake’s Surface

Little Rock, AR — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has issued an official warning to potential visitors of Beaver Lake, cautioning them about storm debris hazards in the water following last weekend’s severe weather. USACE advises boaters to take extra precautions, as debris may be just below the water surface.

Safety Tips for Boaters:

  • Drive slowly to avoid hitting submerged debris.
  • Always wear life jackets for safety.
  • Use depth finders to detect underwater hazards.
  • Maintain a safe distance from the shoreline to avoid hidden debris.

Assistance Programs from USACE:

  1. Hazardous Tree Removal:
    • If you have a hazardous tree blocking your walking path or dock access, submit a request online at USACE Beaver Lake Hazard Tree Removal.
    • A ranger will contact you within 24 hours to process your request.
    • Be prepared to provide a photo of the hazard, as photos will replace onsite inspections for hazardous trees until June 14, 2024.
  2. Dock Replacement:
    • For questions about dock replacement or repair due to storm damage, visit the Beaver Lake Storm Damage Shoreline FAQ page.
    • You can also call the Duty Room at the Beaver Lake Project Office at 501-340-1710 for assistance.
