Black River Technical College Honors 9/11 with Flag-Raising Ceremony and Fallen Officer Memorial Dedication

POCAHONTAS, Ark. — On Wednesday, the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) commemorated the anniversary of September 11 with a poignant flag-raising ceremony.

The event saw Class 2024-B of the academy standing in formation in front of the LETA flagpoles. The class Honor Guards raised the American and Arkansas flags to full mast before lowering them to half-mast, paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the attacks on September 11, 2001.

In addition to the flag ceremony, the academy dedicated its new Fallen Officer Memorial. This memorial honors BRTC LETA graduates who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The ceremony included remarks from LETA Director Jared Bassham, instructor Ashley Boles, and retired instructor Steve Shults, who expressed gratitude for the support received during the planning and unveiling of the memorial.

For more information about the Fallen Officer Memorial or the LETA program, contact Director Jared Bassham at 870-248-4193 or via email at jared.bassham@blackrivertech.edu.
