INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, Ark. — A Batesville woman lost her life Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on State Highway 14 in rural Independence County, according to Arkansas State Police.
Edie Ronewidemon, 50, was driving a Nissan 300ZX when she attempted to navigate a left-hand curve. Her vehicle veered off the right shoulder of the road, overturning and landing in a pond. Ronewidemon, who was ejected from the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trooper Grayson E. Russell reported that rain was falling at the time of the accident, which was recorded at 4:55 p.m. The incident highlights the dangers of wet road conditions and the need for extra caution when driving in adverse weather.
Authorities have not released additional details about the accident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
