LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A routine stop at a local gas station turned into a life-changing moment for Jacob Wood of Batesville, who recently claimed a $50,000 prize from the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

Wood purchased a $50,000 Frenzy instant ticket for $20 at Hawgs Exxon in Batesville last Wednesday. He said the decision was spontaneous after seeing another customer ahead of him buy four $10 tickets.

After scratching the ticket in the parking lot, Wood was stunned to realize he had won the game’s top prize.

“I just kept looking at it,” Wood recalled. “My first thought was, ‘This isn’t real.’”

Wood plans to use his winnings to pay off his house, a decision that will provide financial relief and security for his family.
