Two Teens Detained After Threats Cause Lockdown at Marion High School

MARION, Arkansas — Two teenagers were detained by the Marion Police Department at Marion High School on the morning of Friday, Sept. 20, following reports of armed students on campus, which led to a lockdown.

Marion police officers arrived at the school around 10:20 a.m. in response to reports of two possibly armed individuals. The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Hezekiah Anderson and a 17-year-old boy, were detained approximately ten minutes later. No injuries were reported, and authorities did not find any weapons on the teens at the time of their arrest.

Both suspects have been charged with threatening to commit an act of mass violence on school property and are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, September 23.

The Marion School District sent a message to families following the incident, emphasizing their commitment to student safety. The school had been placed on lockdown as a precaution, and the situation was quickly resolved after law enforcement’s arrival. The lockdown was later lifted, and regular school activities resumed.

In a statement, the school district assured parents that they take all safety concerns seriously and remain vigilant to ensure a secure learning environment.

The Marion Police Department worked closely with the Arkansas Highway Police, Arkansas State Police, West Memphis Police Department, and the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Department during the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with more details expected to be released later.
